Andre currently serves as the Engagement Officer for Regional Development at The University of Georgia. He assists with the development and engagement initiatives that help further the institutional mission and vision while creating a diverse experience that strives for the constant pursuit of excellence. He received his Bachelor’s and Master’s Degree from Western Kentucky University. 

How did you get interested in the fundraising profession? 

Being actively involved and engaged during my undergraduate journey, I knew I wanted to be a Higher Education Professional. I stumbled into a career in fundraising during my graduate school journey and quickly learn it’s a rewarding, dynamic field with the potential to make an enormous impact. 

I had excellent mentors and role models who are in the profession or in similar career paths that I looked up to. They provided me with the inspiration to be a dedicated and genuine fundraiser and professional.

What is something you wish you knew early on in your fundraising career?

I wish I had known more about “The importance of understanding the principles of Change Management.” 

What is the one quality every fundraiser should have?

Cultivate creativity- In fundraising, creativity is your capacity to identify opportunities or to assist in establishing an opportunity. Excellent fundraisers can see possibilities, connect the dots, and bring ideas, resources, and individuals together—both within the organization and outside the group – to assist in achieving the organization’s mission.

What inspires you about the fundraising profession?

I’m inspired by being able to develop and maintain strong and active relationships with my donors and being engaged in many transformational moments that truly impacts the lives of others across the country.  This amazing profession opens doors and provides opportunities for individuals to strive for excellence in their personal, professional, and educational pursuits.

How do you want to be remembered as a professional?

I want to be known as an authentic & genuine fundraiser who is also a servant leader. I want to be known for the passion I have for Philanthropy and hope to be able to bring change and have an impact on our profession.
