LSMSA is a tuition-free, selective public high school serving high-achieving sophomores, juniors, and seniors across Louisiana. Job Description

Position Summary

Reporting to the Executive Director, the Major Gifts Officer will lead efforts to identify, cultivate, solicit, and steward donors capable of making major gifts in support of LSMSA’s mission and campaign priorities.

This role is ideal for a relationship-driven fundraiser who thrives in a strategic, entrepreneurial, and collaborative environment.

Key Responsibilities
•Manage a portfolio of approximately 50–75 donors and prospects
•Develop and execute individualized engagement strategies for high-capacity donors
•Secure major gifts at the $25,000+ level from individuals and corporations
•Conduct personal solicitations and support board and leadership in donor engagement
•Create compelling proposals, reports, and donor communications
•Track activity and progress using performance metrics and CRM tools
•Conduct prospect research and stay current on donor trends and capacity indicators
•Develop and implement moves management and stewardship plans
•Collaborate with Foundation leadership to align fundraising strategies and priorities

Additional information  

Qualifications

Required:
•Bachelor’s degree
•Minimum of 5 years of experience in fundraising, sales, or a related field with demonstrated success
•Exceptional communication and relationship-building skills
•A genuine enthusiasm for the mission of LSMSA and its Foundation

Preferred:
•CFRE certification (or working toward it)
•Experience in independent school or higher education fundraising
•Capital or comprehensive campaign experience
•Familiarity with Raiser’s Edge/NXT or similar CRM systems

Work Environment
•Part-time (up to 30 hours/week), exempt
•Remote position; based in Louisiana
•Regular travel required, including occasional evenings and weekends
