Job Title: Director of Institutional Advancement and Fund Development

Position Overview
The Director of Institutional Advancement & Fund Development serves as the strategic leader for fundraising, donor cultivation, and advancement initiatives at Gammon Theological Seminary. The Director oversees the Development and Alumni Relations offices, with responsibility for building a sustainable donor pipeline, cultivating major gifts, managing development operations, and aligning advancement strategy with Gammon’s mission and growth priorities.
Required Qualifications
•BS/BA, Master’s preferred.
•Five to seven (5-7) years of progressive fundraising experience, preferably within higher education or mission-driven nonprofits.
•A minimum of two (2) years of experience using donor management software; Bloomberg is preferred.
•Proven leadership and team-building skills, with experience in hiring, training, and mentoring staff.
•Excellent communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills.
•Ability to analyze data, identify trends, and implement strategic solutions.

Position Responsibilities
Fundraising & Donor Relations
•Lead fundraising efforts with a focus on major gifts ($10K–$25K+), grants, and annual campaigns.
•Manage and grow a portfolio of donors, alumni, and community partners; cultivate, solicit, and steward relationships.
•Plan and oversee signature fundraising events and donor engagement activities.
•Develop compelling proposals, reports, and communications to inspire giving.
Development Operations
•Oversee donor database (Bloomerang or similar), ensuring accurate gift processing, acknowledgments, and compliance.
•Track fundraising metrics and prepare regular reports for the President and Board.
•Support process improvements to strengthen donor cultivation and stewardship systems.
Strategic & Collaborative Leadership
•Partner with the President, Board, and faculty to align fundraising goals with institutional priorities.
•Supervise and mentor staff/volunteers in advancement and alumni engagement.
•Represent Gammon’s mission to donors, alumni, and external stakeholders, particularly in faith-based and higher education communities.
Preferred Qualifications:
oFamiliarity with the landscape of theological education and seminary recruitment best practices.
oExperience working with diverse communities, including international students and underrepresented populations.
oKnowledge of current marketing strategies, including digital and social media campaigns.
Work Environment
•This position may require travel for recruitment events and meetings.
•Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, as needed.
