The Opportunity

The Leadership Conference seeks a VP, Development to lead fundraising and strategic development efforts across the organization. Reporting to the President & CEO, the VP will oversee a team of six and manage all development activities, helping sustain the $18M annual budget. Responsibilities include cultivating and stewarding institutional, corporate, and individual donors, expanding the donor base, securing transformational gifts, and overseeing donor events that drive engagement and revenue.

Candidate Profile

The ideal candidate will be a strategic fundraiser with 10+ years of experience, capable of translating complex advocacy into compelling narratives and donor communications. This individual will serve as a trusted external ambassador, partnering closely with the CEO, Boards, and other senior leaders.

Key responsibilities include:
· Vision & Strategy: Develop long- and short-term fundraising strategies, elevate organizational profile, and advise senior leadership on opportunities.
· Cultivation & Stewardship: Strengthen existing donor relationships, expand individual and institutional giving, and secure major gifts.
· Management & Leadership: Lead, motivate, and develop the development team, oversee events, implement best practices in data and donor management, and foster a culture of philanthropy.

Qualifications:
· Record of commitment to civil and human rights.
· Proven success with comprehensive development programs.
· Strong leadership, communication, and relationship-building skills.
· Ability to create innovative fundraising strategies and manage multiple priorities.

Compensation & Benefits
Target salary: $210,891–$260,196, commensurate with experience. Benefits include generous PTO, 15 federal holidays plus organizational holidays, medical, dental, vision, transit benefits, professional development, and Employee Assistance Program.

In-Office Policy
Hybrid model requiring 2 days per week in the office by April 2026, with accommodations available as needed.
