Job Description

Aspen Leadership Group is proud to partner with The Obama Foundation in the search for a Director of Development, Chicago.

Reporting to the Senior Director of Development, the Director of Development, Chicago will manage a short- and long-term strategy to grow the Foundation’s fundraising program in Chicago, the hometown of The Obama Foundation and of the future Obama Presidential Center. The Director of Development will cultivate, solicit, and steward six- to seven-figure gifts from individual philanthropists in support of the Chicago Campaign, the local initiative to raise support from donors in and around Chicagoland to build the Obama Presidential Center. With the support of the Senior Director, Midwest, the Director of Development will drive strategy for a volunteer council, Chicago Committee, and collaborate with executive leaders to cultivate and close high-level prospects. This is an ideal opportunity for a proven, fearless, and values-driven nonprofit fundraiser with experience tracking metrics and managing donor pipelines who is highly motivated to work collaboratively in pursuit of big goals.

A bachelor’s degree and at least ten years of experience in fundraising or donor relations, including a minimum of five years managing high-capacity boards and volunteers while securing gifts directly, is preferred for this position, as is deep knowledge of the Chicago philanthropic community. The salary range for this position is $130,000 to $160,000 annually.
