Job Description
Aspen Leadership Group is proud to partner with the University of South Carolina in the search for a Lead Senior Director of Advancement for the McCausland College of Arts & Sciences.
Reporting to the Assistant Vice President for Development, Colleges, and Units, the Lead Senior Director of Advancement for the McCausland College of Arts & Sciences will provide strategic leadership in fundraising, external engagement, and team development to advance the mission of the College. The Lead Senior Director of Advancement will oversee a high-performing advancement team, manage an active portfolio of major and principal gift prospects, and partner closely with internal and external stakeholders to cultivate donor relationships and drive philanthropic support.
With thriving academic and research excellence and a welcoming student experience, the University of South Carolina brings the opportunities of higher education to new generations. The University of South Carolina System has eight campuses in 20 locations that together serve more than 55,000 students. The Carnegie Foundation has recognized USC with top classification — R1 university — for “very high research activity.” USC is one of the few public universities that has also earned Elective Community Engagement Classification, a prestigious designation recognizing universities with strong community relationships.
The McCausland College of Arts & Sciences is the intellectual, artistic, scientific, and instructional heart of USC. The College is home to a variety of academic departments, schools, and programs, offering 38 undergraduate majors and 65 minors. Four psychology faculty members have been named Fellows of the American Association for the Advancement of Science, a prestigious and highly competitive honor. According to a National Research Council report, the geography department ranks among the nation’s best graduate programs and is the only program in South Carolina to offer bachelor’s, master’s, and doctorate degrees in geography. Eighteen chemistry and biochemistry faculty members have received South Carolina Governor’s Awards in science since its inception in 1985. The Colleges’ Comparative Literature Program is ranked one of the top ten in the country and the College ranks fifth in the nation for granting the most bachelor’s degrees in Russian. The theatre program is one of only 189 nationally recognized programs accredited by the National Association of Schools of Theatre.
A bachelor's degree and at least five years of major gift experience within a higher education setting is preferred for this position, as is campaign experience. The University of South Carolina Educational Foundation will consider candidates with a broad range of backgrounds. If you are excited about this role and feel that you can contribute to USC and the foundation, but your experience does not exactly align with every qualification listed above, we encourage you to apply.
The salary range for this position is $130,000 to $156,000 annually.
The University of South Carolina Educational Foundation is committed to the inclusion of all qualified candidates. If you require reasonable accommodation in completing this application, interviewing, or participating in the selection process, please contact Kim Farr at KimFarr@aspenleadershipgroup.com.
