Job Description

Working as part of the fundraising team and reporting to the Vice President, Leadership Giving, the Major Gift Officer creates and implements strategies to meet budgeted income goals and builds relationships toward gifts of passion through the process of donor development. The Major Gift Officer will support major gift activities of clinical areas as assigned, and work with team members and volunteers to identify, cultivate, solicit and engage donor prospects in support of hospital priorities and Foundation goals.

Foundation, regional and individual staff goals are set annually and are expected to grow toward the Foundation’s strategic plan and annual business plan.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Major Gift Officers have annual fundraising goals based on prospects currently in the officer’s portfolio, future prospect assignments and annual Foundation-wide goals. The fundraising goal (new gifts and pledges) will only move when funds (new gifts and pledges) are accounted for in our donor database. Performance expectations also include:

1.Fundraising
•Portfolio: Build and manage a portfolio of approximately 100-125 donor prospects.
•Relationship Building: The Major Gift Officer develops authentic relationships with donors in a focused portfolio to help donors define and accomplish their philanthropic goals in alignment with Riley Children’s Foundation organizational priorities. The Major Gift Officer conducts identification and qualification calls/visits and develops customized cultivation, solicitation and stewardship plans.
•Solicitations: Solicit and close immediate gifts at the $50,000+ level, and partner on planned gifts of all levels where possible.
•Hospital/Volunteer partnership: Partner with an assigned hospital team, clinical area or volunteer group to maximize fundraising for the area and serve as foundation point of contact.

2.Administrative
•Administrative: Maintain accountability to administrative systems and procedures including submitting expense reimbursements, credit card reconciliations, invoices, reports, RCF calendar additions, etc., by the deadlines assigned.
•Meetings: Prepare for and actively participate in all Riley Children’s Foundation meetings as appropriate. Ensure expectations and tools for meeting agendas and follow-up are implemented.
•Budget: Work with your Leadership Team member to develop, manage and monitor the budget, staying within overall budget guidelines.
•Technology: Understand and effectively use the technology available at the Riley Children’s Foundation.
•Compliance: Ensure strict compliance with all Foundation policies, as well as local, state and federal laws that govern business practices.

3.Riley Children’s Foundation Representative
•Volunteers: Work with assigned groups which may include, clinical area volunteer groups, Regional Philanthropy Council members and/or members of the Riley Children’s Foundation Board of Governors to involve them in the mission of Riley Children’s Foundation. Assist members with their personal philanthropic goals. Serve as an expert in fundraising. Include these members in donor prospect discussion and involve as appropriate in donor solicitations and strategies.
•Presentations: Represent Riley Children’s Foundation through delivering public speeches about the organization and its mission to the external public.
•Tours: Give tours of the hospital, and provide information on Riley Hospital, Riley Children’s Foundation, JWR Museum Home and Wells Center for Pediatric Research as appropriate.
4.Other Duties as Assigned
•Riley Children’s Foundation Events: Participate in Riley Children’s Foundation events as requested.
