Job Description

Vice President, Institutional Advancement

Curry College seeks a strategic, collaborative, and visionary leader to serve as its next Vice President for Institutional Advancement (VPIA). This is a critical leadership role reporting directly to President Jay Gonzalez and serving as a member of the President's Executive Team. The VPIA will play a central role in advancing the College's mission and strategic plan by leading all aspects of fundraising, alumni relations, and external engagement.

The VPIA will lead a growing Institutional Advancement team, currently comprised of seven staff and expected to expand. The division includes major gifts, annual giving, alumni and constituent engagement, advancement operations, athletics advancement, and grants. The VPIA will bring strategic vision, fundraising expertise, and a team-oriented leadership style to elevate the College's philanthropic performance and alumni involvement.

Key priorities for the new VPIA include growing contributed revenue with a focus on major and principal gifts; deepening alumni engagement through integrated strategies; enhancing internal systems and processes; and partnering with College leadership to potentially launch a comprehensive fundraising campaign aligned with institutional priorities. The VPIA will personally manage a portfolio of high-value donors and prospects, and actively support the President, Trustees, and senior leaders in cultivating donor relationships.

The ideal candidate will have at least 10 years of progressive fundraising experience, preferably in higher education or a similarly complex nonprofit environment. They should bring demonstrated success in major gift fundraising, campaign planning and execution, and leading high-performing teams. Experience with institutional giving, grants, alumni relations, and advancement operations is highly desirable. A strong commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion—as well as the ability to lead with integrity, collaboration, and emotional intelligence—is essential.

Operational excellence will be a key asset, including the ability to use data to drive decisions, manage budgets effectively, and implement best practices in donor stewardship and prospect development. The VPIA will also serve as a strategic advisor to the President and work collaboratively across academic and administrative departments to support a culture of philanthropy and engagement.

This is a compelling opportunity for an experienced advancement leader to join an ambitious and student-focused institution at a pivotal time in its evolution. With bold strategic priorities, a dedicated leadership team, and a strong foundation in student success, Curry College offers the VPIA the chance to make a lasting and transformative impact.
