The Lab School
Job Description
Aspen Leadership Group is proud to partner with The Lab School of Washington in the search for a Major Gifts Officer.
Reporting to the Chief Advancement Officer, the Major Gifts Officer will grow the school’s philanthropic support through strategic engagement of leadership and major donors. The MGO will manage a portfolio of 60 –100 donors and prospects, capable of contributing $10,000 and above annually, and play a key role customizing and growing Lab’s major gifts, planned giving, and capital campaign efforts. This is a highly relational role that blends frontline fundraising with strategy, analysis, and donor stewardship in support of Lab’s mission.
At The Lab School of Washington, students with language-based learning differences, such as dyslexia, dysgraphia, dyscalculia, and ADHD, feel at home. They are given the support and scaffolding to embrace how they learn and to use it to their advantage. The result? A student body that thrives. Their curriculum is intentionally different and is designed to support individual learners where they are, always with an eye of where they are headed. At Lab, they cultivate proficient learners across all subject areas by tailoring their instruction and by building the confidence of their students. After all, here at Lab they embrace differences as advantages, not deficits. Their innovative approach to education does more than impart knowledge: the focus on problem-solving allows students to blossom in other areas of their lives. Their project-based educational model focuses on developing strong habits of mind, executive functioning skills, and self-advocacy in order to develop confident, capable learners.
A bachelor’s degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience and at least eight years of progressive development experience is required for this position. Experience in independent schools, higher education, or mission-driven nonprofits is preferred. The Lab School of Washington will consider candidates with a broad range of backgrounds. If you are excited about this role and feel that you can contribute to Lab, but your experience does not exactly align with every qualification listed above, we encourage you to apply. All applications must be accompanied by a cover letter and résumé. Cover letters should be responsive to the mission of The Lab School of Washington and the responsibilities and qualifications specified in the position prospectus.
The salary range for this position is $110,000 to $120,000. The Lab School of Washington offers a comprehensive package of benefits including health, dental, vision, life & disability insurance; a retirement investment plan with employer match; paternity/maternity leave; an Employee Assistance Program; and generous PTO, paid holidays, and sick time accrual.
If you require reasonable accommodation in completing this application, interviewing, or participating in the selection process, please contact Kim Farr at kimfarr@aspenleadershipgroup.com.
