About the Organization
The Director, Office for Communication and Philanthropy Initiatives (OCPI) provide strategic leadership for all communications, marketing, and philanthropic efforts of the Poor Handmaids of Jesus Christ (PHJC). This position unites storytelling, fundraising, and public engagement into a single cohesive strategy that advances PHJC’s mission and global visibility.
The Director ensures that every expression of PHJC’s mission—from donor relations to social media outreach—reflects its values of justice, equity, and sustainability. This includes leading an integrated team responsible for communication design, marketing strategy, donor cultivation, data insights, and storytelling. The Director builds strong internal collaboration across ministries and external partnerships to strengthen brand coherence, increase donor engagement, and sustain long-term mission readiness.
Job Description
Position salary range: $110,000-$120.000
Position reports to: Arleen Peterson
Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership: Direct the Office for Communication and Philanthropy Initiatives, aligning communication, marketing, and fundraising strategies to strengthen PHJC’s overall mission and outreach.
Team Integration: Lead a multi-disciplinary team spanning communications, design, data analytics, events, and philanthropy, fostering collaboration and cross-functional creativity.
Mission Alignment: Ensure that all external communication and fundraising reflect PHJC’s charism, Catholic social teaching, and organizational values.
Fundraising Strategy: Oversee fundraising initiatives across all PHJC ministries, ensuring a consistent donor experience and stewardship approach.
Digital Expansion: Guide the development and implementation of digital strategies, including web, social media, and multimedia outreach, to expand PHJC’s reach and relevance.
Brand & Messaging Oversight: Maintain consistency of PHJC’s messaging and brand identity across platforms, materials, and ministries.
Donor Relations: Support donor cultivation and engagement strategies that deepen relationships with individuals, foundations, and institutional partners.
Capacity-Building: Mentor and coach ministry staff in communication and fundraising practices, particularly ministries moving toward independence.
Data-Driven Planning: Oversee use of Bloomerang CRM and related data systems for reporting, segmentation, and performance measurement.
Collaboration & Partnership: Work in partnership with internal teams, the PHJC Foundation, and global partners to coordinate storytelling and resource development.
Evaluation & Reporting: Establish measurable goals for communication and philanthropy, using data and analytics to guide decision-making and demonstrate outcomes.
Representation: Serve as a visible ambassador of PHJC, fostering positive relationships with donors, media, community partners, and the broader public.

Specifications
Education & Training
Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree preferred in communications, nonprofit management, or a related field.
Continuing education or certification in fundraising, marketing, or digital communications strongly preferred.
Work Experience / Skills Required
Minimum of 7–10 years of leadership experience in nonprofit communications, philanthropy, or integrated strategy.
Proven success in leading diverse teams and managing complex organizational initiatives.
Demonstrated expertise in fundraising, donor relations, and digital engagement.
Strong understanding of Catholic social teaching, community engagement, and mission-based storytelling.
Excellent written, verbal, and visual communication skills.
Proficiency in Bloomerang CRM and Bloomerang Fundraising analytics, and digital marketing tools.
Ability to navigate change and foster innovation within mission-driven organizations.
